NFL Picks- Week 1
Hello again faithful reader(s). Last year, you may have noticed that I did not make any weekly picks. I could lie and say that it was due to schedule conflicts yada, yada, yada, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. The real reason is I just didn't want to shame myself and loved ones by making such awful picks. Nothing worse than running a sports blog and making HORRIBLE selections. This year, though, I am over my fear and ready to make picks. One thing is for sure, I can't be any worse than you at it.
(P.S., I'll just have a little blurb for each pick; no need to get really long-winded. To make it easier, I've bolded my winners)
Falcons at Bears
Could be an important game later in the season (and could have created a different outcome), but for no, the Chicago weather won't be enough to slow down the Falcons.
Colts at Texans
I don't think anyone feels safe picking the Colts without Peyton Manning. I'm no different.
Bills at Chiefs
Last year may have been a fluke for KC, but that doesn't mean they are Buffalo bad. Easy home win.
Bengals at Browns
It's going to be a long season for the Bengals. Why not start here?
Steelers at Ravens
I'm trying to be optimistic, but it's hard. No OTA's with a bunch of brand new pieces doesn't bode well against the defending AFC Champs.
Eagles at Rams
It would be exciting to see the Rams pull off and upset, but they just don't have the pieces. Still will be fun to see all of Philly's speed on that turf.
Lions at Buccaneers
I'm not hopping on the Lions bandwagon, but something about Tampa Bay keeps me from fully believing in them.
Titans at Jaguars
Not much to see here, but I'll take the team that ISN'T starting Luke McNown.
Vikings at Chargers
Everybody seems to have forgotten about the Vikings this year since Brett Favre isn't concern. Honestly, I would pick them to win if this wasn't a road game.
Panthers at Cardinals
Debut of two quarterbacks: Carolina's Cam Newton and Arizona's Kevin Kolb. While I don't think Kolb is the missing link; beating a rookie quarterback shouldn't be hard for a team only a couple years from a Super Bowl trip.
Giants at Redskins
Maybe it's the geographical region I live in, but for some reason the Redskins have evolved into a sleeper team. Still, I can't buy it. If Rex Grossman was bad 6 months ago, he's probably still bad now.
Seahawks at 49ers
Yuck. Awful that they have to play twice this year. Flip a coin and move on with your day.
Cowboys at Jets
Battle of the Ryan Boys. Rex and Rob match up again for family bragging rights. I'm a believer in this Cowboys team (meaning I think they will be better than last year). Still too early to say they can snatch this one.
Patriots at Dolphins
New players; same results.
Raiders at Broncos
Both teams are in disarray, but before Kyle Orton went down with injury last year, he was doing very well. Pick up where he left off here.
