NFL Picks - Week 5
Somehow, some way, we have to agree to give Peyton Manning the MVP this season. In a perfect world, he returns this season for one game and leads the Colts to their only victory. Think about this; if the Colts manage to win(earn?)the top pick in next year's draft, do they take Andrew Luck and hold him until Manning retires? Going to be a rough decision to make. Let's get this week under way;
(Winners in bold.)
Saints at Panthers
The expectations couldn't be lower for Carolina. Hands down, the most exciting 1-3 team in NFL history. Excitement doesn't win games, though.
Chiefs at Colts
Let's be honest; there isn't really going to be a "winner" of this game. Home field wins this one.
Eagles at Bills
The popular sentiment is that there is no way the Eagles can drop to 1-4. Why not? No rule against it. Bills are way too balanced right now to drop to the reeling Iggles.
Seahawks at Giants
What I wouldn't give to have my team play Tavaris Jackson. Oh, well.
Bengals at Jaguars
Blaine Gabbert gets his first win of the season. The Bengals aren't great and EVERY team loses a game they shouldn't have at some point.
Titans at Steelers
The Steelers look awful right now (and I'm happy about it). With that being said, I've seen how a game at Heinz Field can disrupt a good team. With the team flat-lining, the crowd won't allow the team to fail.
Raiders at Texans
I watched the Texans play last week and even after Andre Johnson went down with injury, the offense still moved the ball. I haven't seen any of the Raiders (east coast bias), but I don't think they are quite there yet. And coaches guaranteeing division titles is a kiss of death to me.
Cardinals at Vikings
Yuck. I'm terribly disappointed in Donovan McNabb, so I'm picking Arizona out of spite.
Buccaneers at 49ers
I hate the 49ers. They keep making me look stupid by picking against them. I don't know what to do with this one. I guess I have no choice but to surrender.
Jets at Patriots
Watching the Ravens obliterate the Jets last week, but them in the spotlight. Whether the Pats can win is undoubted, but I can't remember a more underrated 3-1 team than New England. Who cares how bad the defense is. They win games.
Chargers at Broncos
San Diego is lurking. Right now, it's cool to pick Oakland, but San Diego doesn't look like the Chargers of last year. Order has been restored to the AFC West.
Packers at Falcons
The Packers look like the '95-'96 Bulls; they are literally just running through every team they see. Complete domination. Barring a catastrophe, they should be favored to win every game this season. No reason for me to doubt them now.
Bears at Lions
Is it a sign that the Lions keep coming from behind to win? Do great teams fall behind and come back or do they just never fall behind? I have no idea. But the excitement in Detroit is massive. When they lose their next game, I guarantee it won't be at home.
Outside of the Eagles laying an egg (no pun intended) and the Steelers wetting the bed, last week was pretty good. Let the record speak;
Last Week: 13-3
Season: 42-22
