NFL Picks - Week 8
What did I say? Last week was a toss up all the way around and the games showed it. On one hand you have the magical (and dreadful) Tim Tebow leading his team to an improbable, albeit unimpressive win over the hapless Dolphins. On the other hand, the (wildly overrated) Carson Palmer falls flat on his face in his return to the NFL in 2011. What have we learned? Nothing.
(Winners in bold.)
Saints at Rams
Not even close. Really not worth watching for anyone. Sam Bradford, who isn't playing this game, would have been the only bright spot.
Dolphins at Giants
Think the Rams are bad? Watch the Dolphins for a little bit.
Jaguars at Texans
Texans needed a cupcake game. Even though the Jags just beat the Ravens last week, they didn't look impressive doing it. A more potent offense should put them back in their place.
Cardinals at Ravens
The Ravens' D will be pretty mad about the loss last week, but the offense is the group that has something to prove it. Proving critics wrong should be easy this game.
Vikings at Panthers
Cam Newton looks better than about 75% of the quarterbacks in the league. But the Panthers still have a ways to go before they contend. The Vikes look awful, but they have more pieces in place to steal this one.
Colts at Titans
Another easy win against the Colts.
Redskins at Bills
Would you bet on John Beck resurrecting the Redskins without their best receiver? Neither would I.
Bengals at Seahawks
Something tells me that the Bengals may slip and fall in this one. Especially with no Cedric Benson. Time to take a chance and pick the underdog.
Patriots at Steelers
Game of the week, definitely. It may be wishful thinking, but I think New England has too many offensive weapons to stop. Their defense may be porous, but they can outlast any team in the league.
Browns at 49ers
This was supposed to be the year for the Browns, right? How's that going?
Cowboys at Eagles
The media will make you believe this game is relevant. It isn't. Whoever comes out with a win will LOOK better, but this pillow fight of a game won't prove much for anyone involved. Home crowd carries Philly here.
Chargers at Chiefs
It's sexy to pick the upset here, but the Chiefs are still the same bad team they were a couple of weeks ago. Don't let the wins over the reeling Raiders and Colts give you false hope.
I think this week will set everything right with my world. It's snowing in October in Maryland. Football weather coming early.
Last week: 9-4
Season: 70-33
