NFL Picks - Week 17
The regular season is down to the last week, which can mean only one thing; 95% of the events of the week are completely meaningless. Most playoff seeds have been decided and the bottom feeders are jockeying for draft position (should they lose or win for pride?). Expect this post to be a little lighter on the analysis.
(Winners in bold.)
Redskins at Eagles
Very disappointing season on both sidelines. Much has been made of the Philly "Dream Team" disaster, but remember that the Skins also started 3-1 before promptly melting their hopes away with a six game losing streak. If Washington doesn't draft a quarterback this year; the NFL would have to launch an investigation of that organization.
Lions at Packers
Should Aaron Rodgers play? Probably not. 15-1 won't be a bad record to finish with, though.
Jets at Dolphins
Rex Ryan's egotistical routine is wearing thin. Two AFC championship appearances sound impressive, but when you guarantee Super Bowls, losing a round before (and potentially missing the playoffs this year) is a let down.
Panthers at Saints
I think Drew Brees will try and extend his single season passing record. Coach Sean Payton doesn't know how to turn off the offense.
49ers at Rams
Not going to be pretty.
Bears at Vikings
Losing Adrian Peterson in a meaningless game hurts Minnesota badly. What's even worse is finishing the season on a losing note.
Titans at Texans
Heading to the first playoff game in franchise history, the Texans need to make sure they don't limp there.
Colts at Jaguars
Why do I have a feeling the Colts are going to play their way right out of the Andrew Luck sweepstakes?
Bills at Patriots
Honestly, if it wasn't Buffalo, we would be spending more time talking about the epic collapse of this season. These types of things just happen to the Bills.
Steelers at Browns
I don't think the schedule could have played out better for Pittsburgh. Facing Seneca Wallace in a game that will possibly give them the No. 2 seed is ideal.
Broncos at Chiefs
Personal affair for Kyle Orton. With Tebow-mania seeming to subside, we can now focus on two average teams duking it out. Don't expect many highlights from this one.
Ravens at Bengals
I'm a diehard Ravens fan and I have zero confidence that the Ravens walk away with this one. On the road against talented receivers is a formula for disaster.
Seahawks at Cardinals
Who cares?
Chargers at Raiders
Norv Turner is coaching his last game (probable) and Carson Palmer has, at least, 2 more INTs to throw before this season is done (also probable).
Cowboys at Giants
Game of the Week. Straight up, winner goes to the playoffs situation. Both teams have the potential to choke the game away. Both teams have coaches that could get fired depending on the result. At the end of the day, it comes down to the quarterbacks. Tony Romo is hot and Eli Manning is falling off from his MVP-candidate status of a couple weeks ago. I'm going with the hot streak.
Playoff football is almost here. My team is in, but it's just a matter of where they will be playing.
Last Week: 12-4
